Cookie Policy
Which cookies bestukmoneydeals.co.uk uses, why, and how to manage your preferences. Last updated 22 May 2026.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make sites work, remember your preferences, and provide site owners with information about how the site is used. Some cookies are essential to the operation of the site; others are optional and depend on your consent.
2. The cookies we use
We use the minimum number of cookies needed to operate and improve the site. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or profiling cookies. Specifically:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| bumd_cookie_consent | Essential | Remembers your cookie banner choice so we don't show it on every visit | 12 months |
| bumd_session | Essential | Identifies the current browser session for security and performance | Session only |
| _ga | Analytics (optional) | Google Analytics — counts unique visitors and tracks aggregated, anonymised site usage | 14 months |
| _ga_* | Analytics (optional) | Google Analytics — site-specific measurement ID | 14 months |
| cf_clearance | Essential | Set by our security provider (Cloudflare) to verify human traffic and block bots | 30 days |
| affiliate_click | Essential | Stores a non-personal click ID when you visit a lender via our links — required so the lender attributes the visit to us | 30 days |
3. Categories explained
- Essential cookies — always on. The site cannot work properly without them. They do not store identifiable personal information beyond what is necessary.
- Analytics cookies — set only with your consent. They count visitors and tell us which guides are useful and which are not. Data is aggregated and anonymised; we do not link analytics data to individual users.
- Advertising / marketing cookies — we don't use them. None.
4. Managing your preferences
You can manage cookie preferences in three ways:
- On our cookie banner — shown to every visitor on first arrival and any time the policy changes. Choose "Essential only" to block analytics cookies, or "Accept all" to allow analytics.
- In your browser settings — every major UK browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) allows you to view, delete and block cookies for specific sites. Blocking all cookies will prevent some site features from working.
- By clearing localStorage — you can reset your preference at any time using your browser's developer tools or by clearing site data, which will cause the banner to be shown again on your next visit.
5. Third-party cookies
When you click a comparison link to a lender's site, the third-party site sets its own cookies independently of BUMD. Those cookies are governed by the third party's privacy and cookie policies, not ours. Review the destination site's policy before continuing to use it.
6. Do Not Track
The Site does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, because there is no agreed UK standard for how to interpret them. Our cookie banner provides an equivalent and explicit way to refuse non-essential cookies.
7. Changes to this policy
We update this policy whenever we add, remove or change a cookie. The 'last updated' date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes are notified by showing the cookie banner again, which prompts you to make a fresh choice.
8. How to contact us
For any cookie-related question, email [email protected] or use the contact form. For broader privacy questions, see our Privacy Policy.
